The real one
This is a replica of the MP3 player my parents gave me when I was a teenager. Blue, about the size of a USB stick, and the first thing I owned that felt completely mine.
It went everywhere. Long car rides, forehead against the window. Bedtime, one earphone in, volume low enough that nobody would knock. A school trip, where my best friend and I split the earphones, one each, and argued over what came next.
It had 32 MB of space. That's about ten songs, if you were careful. So I got sneaky. I'd keep the radio on, wait for the RJ to announce a song I loved, and hit record the second it started. Radio recordings took up less space than the real files, so a few more could squeeze in.
Plenty of gadgets came and went after this one. This is the one that stayed.
